Title: Looking for a good job? Careers in Wood
Description of Resource: Careers in Wood is an easy-to-use cross- curriculum multimedia resource for putting students in touch with career profiles in the wood industry and educational paths to jobs in the industry.  The resources consist of a video, website, CD-ROM, poster, information brochure, and teacher's guide.  The CD-ROM and website were built so students can interactively explore a future in the wood industry, see and learn about individual wood companies and associations, choose where to go for related college and university programs and connect with real job opportunities throughout the wood industry.  After working with Careers in Wood and completing the classroom activities, students should be able to describe the wood products industry and the types of career options this sector has to offer students.  Also students should be able to describe the wood industry related education and training options available at the university and college level.  The CD-ROM and website include sections on job profiles, colleges and universities offering education programs, skills check by solving practical problems related to the industry, a wood industry database, and a glossary of terms used in the the wood industry.  This educational resource also encourages discussion on business education, social studies and geography, forestry and science, career planning, and mathematics.  The teachers guide contains a variety of activities, problems in math,, statistics, production, and economics,  emergency problem solving,  and communication.  Answers are included.
