Title: Sustainable Forest Policy
Description of Resource: Over the years, as technology imporved and awareness increase, NHLA members have become better stewards and managers of forest resources. We now have more forest growing than 50 years ago in spite of a growing demand for our products around the world. Because of a variety of volunatry and mandatory state standards, NHLA members are now concerned with things like soil and water quality, and Best Management Practices (BMPs) to a greater degree than ever before. NHLA members themselves were often involved in developing these standards. While we have much to be proud of, we still face a number of problems which the Principles of Sustainable Forestry were designed to address.
