Title: Forest Wars
Description of Resource: Forests exist in every corner of the United States. From the very beginning, they play a central part in the lives of the people who live here. We have hunted and played in the forests and our ancestors before us have explored and exploited them. From the hardwood forest of West Virginia to the Redwoods in California and from the Ponderosa forests in Arizona to the Douglas-fir of Washington, the American forest helped to define us as a people. They have been a test of our national character - a vast natural resource to use or abuse. Today that character is being challenged in a conflict known as "Forest Wars." This video documents an American dilemma: Can we have wood products and our forest too? Using as examples the embittered fights over spotted owls, old growth, fire, and wilderness, "Forest Wars" takes you into the forest battlegrounds and introduces you to the warriors on both sides of the issues.
