Title: America's Forests: A History of Resiliency and Recovery
Description of Resource: This documentary covers the changes in the forests of the United States from the time of European settlement until present day. You will see how much of our natural world was altered, first by Native Americans and later by pioneers. These early entrepreneurs turned nature (trees and rivers) into commodities (lumber and travelways) as they moved westward building our nation. Using actual film footage and still photographs from the turn of the century, this video graphically depicts the forest, watershed and wildlife conditions that led to our first national conservation movement. This video is based on a book of the same title by Douglas W. MacCleery.
