
Red Pine
(Also called Norway Pine)
Range:
Found in northern and northeastern Minnesota. Designated the Minnesota state tree in 1953.
Size:
Large, height 60'-80'.
Bark:
Becomes divided into large reddish-brown plates as it matures.
Leaf:
Evergreen. Needlelike; clusters of two; 4" to 6" long.
Scientific Name:
Pinus resinosa
Principal Uses:
Construction lumber and timbers; used in buildings, bridges and pilings.
